God’s commands are according to his design.

God calls men to protect women, therefore he made men physically bigger and stronger. God also calls men to protect our families spiritually, therefore He fitted the man with a mind that is better suited to think deeply about theology.

I am not saying women can’t be strong or that women can’t be solid theologically. But the strongest people in the world are men and the greatest theological minds in the history of the church have been men.

What’s the Point?

Men! Stop saying things like “I don’t read”. You already think deeply and incessantly about your hobbies or your work. You can think deeply about God’s word. You are called to be a physical protector of your family but also a spiritual protector of your family. If you don’t know the word, you won’t be able to do that well.

God fitted your body to protect your family physically. God fitted your mind to protect your family spiritually. Get to work!

My comments on former adulterers and homosexuals from 1 Cor. 6 was said in a unclear way. It is a very good thing that Paul says “And such were some of you.” Adulterers and homosexuals were redeemed out of that sin and members of the church. Praise God! However, some of those struggles may have remained and the list of sins gives us insight into what the city of Corinth was like and what the church would have had to deal with.

I will go through the controversy for Christ’s sake, and do nothing whatever to quiet their wrath. Brethren, if you trim a little, if you try to save a little of your repute with the men of apostasy, it will go ill with you. He that is ashamed of Christ and his Word in this evil generation shall find that Christ is ashamed of him at last.” Spurgeon

Tozer Prophetic Preaching

If Christianity is to receive a rejuvenation, it must be by other means than any now being used. If the Church in the second half of this century is to recover from the injuries she suffered in the first half, there must appear a new type of preacher. The proper, ruler-of-the-synagogue type will never do. Neither will the priestly type of man who carries out his duties, takes his pay and asks no questions, nor the smooth-talking pastoral type who knows how to make the Christian religion acceptable to everyone. All these have been tried and found wanting.

Another kind of religious leader must arise among us. He must be of the old prophet type, a man who has seen visions of God and has heard a voice from the Throne. When he comes (and I pray God there will be not one but many), he will stand in flat contradiction to everything our smirking, smooth civilization holds dear. He will contradict, denounce and protest in the name of God and will earn the hatred and opposition of a large segment of Christendom. Such a man is likely to be lean, rugged, blunt-spoken and a little bit angry with the world. He will love Christ and the souls of men to the point of willingness to die for the glory of the One and the salvation of the other. But he will fear nothing that breathes with mortal breath.

From the sermon “Power of the Holy Ghost” “In the 2nd verse of the first chapter of Genesis, we read, “And the earth was without form and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved the face of the waters.” We know not how remote the period of creation of this globe may be- certainly many millions of years before the time of Adam. Our planet has passed through various stages of existence, and different kinds of creatures have lived on its surface, all of which have been fashioned by God. But before that era came, wherein man should be its principal tenant and monarch, the Creation gave the world to confusion. He allowed the inward fires to burst up from beneath and melt all the solid matter so that all kinds of substances were commingled in one vast mass of disorder. The only name you could give to the world then, was, that it was a chaotic mass of matter; what it should be, you could not guess or define. It was entirely “without form and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep” The Spirit came, and stretching his broad wings, bade the darkness disperse, and as he moved over it, all the different portions of matter came into their places, and it was no longer “without form and void;” but became round, like its sister planets, and moved, singing the high praises of God- not disorderly, as it had done before, but as one great not in the vast scale of creation.”

A few months back I got to have dinner with my friends Brian and Lexy Sauve. Before we ate Brian spoke a word of blessing over his family that was really cool. He got the idea from this blog. I modified and made one myself. Below is the blessing I read over my family.
